Do physicians really need to market their medical practice online?
The short answer is yes. All physicians need some sort of online marketing. In today’s online and digital world, almost everyone is searching online and that includes healthcare. In a recent study, 80% internet users search online for health related topics, most being affluent females. It’s important for physicians to have a presence even if the majority of their patients are from referrals. The trend is for patients to leave the office with a referral and go online to search the doctor out to see what his or her online reputation is. What do you think the outcome is going to be if they find no information on the doctor they are referred to but all of this great information pops up for a competitor? And then they go onto Facebook and that same competitor ad pops up?Even if you don’t think your practice needs this now, what happens in 5 years or 10 years when your competitors have been very active online? Do they already have a jump start on you? What if you can get start ahead or do a better job then they are?Things are only becoming more digital and with the majority of people on mobile phones, having a great presence online will only become more and more important with time.Things like social media presence, PPC (paid search), medical SEO, content, great physician reviews should all be part of your practices digital marketing strategy.“The best time to plant a tree was 10 years ago.
